The Strata

While driving down the coast of California there are stretches of road that go through channels blasted in the mountains. As you go through these channels you can see how the mountains were formed; tons of sediment layered on top of one another for millions of years. This sedimentary stratification is the inspiration for Atomic Glass's Strata pieces. Different layers of different colors of glass layered on top of each other, coming together giving the sense that these objects were made over time. The base colors are reminiscent of the organics in the soil, and the metallic sheens are representative of the precious minerals that infuse the land.

The Strata's range in size from 12 inches to 30 inches.
